Deeper Learning: Fewer classes at a time mean students can dive deeper into each subject and retain more.

What Is a 4x4 Block Schedule?
Under the current A/B block schedule, students take courses that span the entire year, with alternating A and B days. While this format allows for continuous learning, it can sometimes create challenges for students in maintaining consistency and focus, as they alternate between subjects every other day.
The new 4x4 block schedule is designed to provide students with a more focused and streamlined learning experience. Instead of alternating days, students will complete four courses each semester, allowing them to concentrate on fewer subjects at a time. This approach enhances understanding, reduces the complexity of managing multiple classes, and mirrors the structure of college semesters, better preparing students for future academic and career success.

Dalton High School is preparing for the exciting transition to a 4x4 block schedule starting in August 2025! To ensure our students and families are fully informed and supported, we will host a series of Parent Information Nights and launch the course selection process in early 2025.
Parent Information Nights:
February 3rd, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Dalton High School in the Theater
February 20th, 2025 at 5:00 PM at Dalton High School in the Theater
April 14th, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Dalton High School in the Theater
(Please note that these dates may be subject to change.)
The course selection process for the 2025-26 school year will begin in the spring of 2025. Counselors will collaborate closely with students to guide them in choosing courses that align with their goals and fit the new schedule. Students will transition to the new block schedule starting in August 2025.
