Board of Education
The five-member Dalton Board of Education serves as the official governing body for the Dalton Public Schools district. Its responsibilities encompass policy-making, budget approval, evaluation of the superintendent, and other legally prescribed duties. Board members are elected to four-year terms, with elections held on a staggered two-year cycle.
The Dalton Board of Education has earned recognition from the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) as an Exemplary Board, a distinction that honors the board's commitment to excellence in educational governance and high standards in the local administration of public schools.
Current members of the Dalton Board of Education include Matt Evans, Tulley Johnson, Manny Meza, Jody McClurg, and Sam Sanders.
The board convenes for regular sessions monthly on the second Monday at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held at the City Park Auditorium, located at 405 School Street, unless otherwise indicated.
