Dalton, GA — Dalton Public Schools is excited to announce that detailed back-to-school information for the 2024-2025 academic year is now available on our website. DPS is eagerly preparing to welcome students and families to a year of exceptional learning and community engagement.
School Open Houses:
In preparation for the new school year, all school open house sessions will be held on Wednesday, August 7. Dalton High School and The Dalton Academy will also offer an additional open house session. The open house times for each school are as follows:
Elementary Schools: All Dalton Public Schools elementary schools will host open houses from 1:30 to 3:30 PM.
Hammond Creek Middle School will host an open house for 6th grade families from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and for 7th grade families from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Dalton Junior High School will welcome families from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Both The Dalton Academy and Dalton High School will host two open house sessions.
Dalton High School:
First Session: Tuesday, July 30, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Second Session: Wednesday, August 7, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Dalton Academy:
First Session: Tuesday, July 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Second Session: Wednesday, August 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
During each of the first high school open house sessions, students will be able to pick up their schedules, purchase parking passes, and pay any fees.

New School Start and End Times
As approved this spring by the board of education, we would like to remind our community of the new start and end times for the 2024-2025 school year.
High Schools: 7:30 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.
Middle Schools (HCMS and DJHS): 8:05 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Elementary Schools: 8:30 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.
School Nutrition Information
You can now find information about school nutrition, including meal prices and the application process for Free and Reduced Lunch, conveniently located on our Back-to-School page along with other important resources.
Throughout the month of July, additional resources will continue to be added to our website, including new student handbooks, transportation information, and more. We encourage families to check back regularly as we approach the beginning of the school year.
